Maisie’s Magical Christmas House

Be amazed by a quarter million twinkling lights. Come see the 6th annual Christmas lights display at 9619–144 Avenue. This $100,000 display was officially inaugurated as Maisie’s Magical Christmas House in 2008. There are unique lights, music and 12 professional window scenes to amuse and delight all ages. Fame For Food

At Hawkstone Sobeys (18370 Lessard Road) and Sobeys Namao Centre (9611–167 Avenue) on TBA 2010 from noon to 5 p.m. For a food or monetary donation, donors will be able to record a personal greeting for Fame for Food that will air on Breakfast Television on CityTV in December.

Extra Helping

Food Banks Canada and Loblaw Companies Limited are launching Extra Helping, the 2010 Loblaw Holiday Food Drive in Edmonton on TBA. Visit any of the Edmonton Real Canadian Superstores or Real Canadian Wholesale stores between November 27 and December 17 and leave a non-perishable food donation in the marked Edmonton’s Food Bank bin.

18 Wheels of Christmas Food Drive

Rosenau Transport Ltd. will organize the 18 Wheels of Christmas Food Drive in support of Edmonton’s Food Bank. Last year’s goal was to fill two 53 foot trailers full of food to be delivered to the Food Bank in December. For more information, please visit Rosenau Transport Ltd.

CBC Turkey Drive

Please bring a turkey to CBC Edmonton studio (10062 – 102 Avenue) in December 2010 (8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends) or donate online through CanadaHelps TBA 2010. Frozen turkeys may also be dropped off at Edmonton’s Food Bank at 11508–120 Street (Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

K-97 Christmas Rig

K-97 invites you to visit Terry Evans in the Christmas Rig from TBA 2010 at Beaumaris Sobeys (15367 Castledowns Road). Please bring your non-perishable food donation to help fill the rig. Terry will sleep in the rig until it’s filled with food. K-97’s Christmas Rig is supported by Rosenau Transport, Sobeys, 4-Way Equipment Rentals, Campers Village and Edmonton’s Classic Rock, K-97.

Candy Cane Lane

Candy Cane Lane is an annual tradition in Edmonton. Visitors who are admiring the Christmas lights along 148 Street between 92 Avenue and 99 Avenue in December 2010 are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for Edmonton’s Food Bank. Official Candy Cane Lane launch is on December TBA 2010.

Tom Jackson’s Singing for Supper

Cottswood Interiors ($5,000 Room Makeover)

Help feed families in your community and you could win a $5,000 Room Makeover in TBA 2010. Enter to win a professionally designed room makeover when you visit the store and drop off a donation for the Food Bank from TBA 2010 (support for Edmonton’s Food Bank and the St. Albert Food Bank). Drop off locations include: Cottswood Interiors (10940 Mayfield Road, open 7 days a week and until 8 p.m. on Thursdays); Cottswood Warehouse (18619–111 Avenue, Mon-Fri between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.); and ALL Cottswood deliveries will also be able to donate.

Hip Hop for Hunger

Music For Mavericks Entertainment & BIGG HEAD Records are organizing a 20-day challenge for Edmonton’s Hip Hop community to raise food on behalf of the Hip Hop for Hunger initiative. The challenge runs from TBA 2010. Donors can drop off non-perishable food items at Room 322 Urban Clothing (10988 – 124 Street). For more information, please call 780.758.4496. Hip Hop on the Avenue II

Local Hip Hop entrepreneur Stephen ‘Komrade’ Goyette of the rap group Brothers Grim is throwing the second annual Hip Hop on the Avenue on TBA 2010 at the Avenue Theatre. Doors open at noon and the show begins at 1 p.m. This year’s will be all ages and free admission for all with a Food Bank donation. Please see the poster for more information.

New Year’s Eve

First Night at McDougall United Church is a family-friendly event on TBA at 10025 – 101 Street. Free face painting and balloon clowns. Admission with a non-perishable food item or monetary donation to Edmonton’s Food Bank.
